About
Dr. Palmer researches, teaches and consults on healthcare applications of complexity sciences to improve clinical care processes and outcomes. Dr. Palmer has helped to develop and implement healthcare improvement projects in the USA and Canada. He collaborates on research project design as an affiliate faculty member, Department of Family Medicine, University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine.
He has an independent professional practice for 1) applied research theory development regarding embodied human interaction as complex responsive processes 2)healthcare improvement consulting and research design and 3) educational services.
Dr. Palmer completed his Doctor of Management in 2007 in the complexity science of complex responsive processes from the Complexity and Management Centre, University of Hertfordshire, UK.
He was educated as an economist at the University of Chicago (MA) and Texas Christian University (BA).
He is currently working on complexity sciences applications to improve detection of COPD exacerbations and the provision of integrated care for COPD patients and their multi-morbidities, such as Chronic Heart Failure (20% incidence).
James also works on improved education methods in healthcare: learning in practice through narrative and emergent learning methods and Communities of Practice concepts; CME (continuing medical education), patient learning.
